Off-Axis Parabolic Metal Mirrors are widely used in broadband UV, Visible, and IR applications. Unlike transmissive optics where the material properties greatly affect performance, off-axis parabolic mirrors (OAPs) are not wavelength dependent and therefore free of aberrations across a broadband range. These benefits make OAPs ideal for use in instrumentation and laser systems including Schlieren, MTF, FLIR, and FTIR, along with IR lasers such as Quantum cascade lasers. Off-axis parabolic mirrors allow for unrestricted access to the focal point allowing for compact system designs. Our Metal Substrate Mirrors are available in 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, or 90° Off-Axis options with several coatings including Bare Gold and Enhanced Aluminum.
TECHSPEC® Off-Axis Parabolic (OAP) Mirrors are designed and manufactured by Edmund Optics® for low scatter from the UV to IR spectra, with a surface figure of λ/8 RMS and a surface roughness of less than 50Å RMS. A variety of coating options are available including Protected Gold, Bare Gold, Protected Aluminum, UV Enhanced Aluminum, and Protected Silver. Each mirror undergoes inspection to ensure low scatter. OAPs are ideal for focusing, collimation, beam expansion, and optical testing systems such as MTF test benches.
