Coherent® OBIS™ Galaxy Laser System’s flexible design enables users to combine up to eight predetermined wavelength OBIS™ lasers into one fiber. The unit comes pre-loaded with three lasers (405nm, 488nm and 640nm) and has the ability to expand and incorporate up to five additional lasers including 445nm, 514nm, 532nm, 561nm and 590nm. The Coherent® OBIS™ Galaxy Laser System provides a fiber output of the combined lasers in a 2m long single mode polarization-maintaining fiber with a FC/APC connector. The high coupling efficiency maximizes throughput, while maintaining polarization for excellent performance and image quality.

Laser beam combining is simple because of the revolutionary fiber-coupling design. The Galaxy Laser System includes:

  1. Laser Beam Combiner – Fiber based beam combiner that combines up to eight input fibers into a single FC/APC output fiber. The Galaxy FC/APC connector is specialized and is not compatible with standard FC/APC patchcords.
  2. Laser Box –Control box for up to five OBIS™ with built in heat sink with fan and power supply. Other features include: modulation inputs (analog and digital), safety interlock, and software for remote control. To combine more than five lasers an additional power supply is required (sold separately).
  3. Three predetermined OBIS™ lasers – 405nm, 488nm, and 640nm.

Note: OBIS™ lasers used in this system are specialized fiber designed specifically for the Galaxy Laser System. Standard OBIS™ lasers are not compatible. Additional 590nm laser is part of the Coherent Sapphire series.
