Laser Polarizers

Laser Polarizers are used to isolate specific polarizations of light or to convert unpolarized light to polarized light in a variety of laser applications. Laser Polarizers use a range of substrates, coatings, or a combination of the two to transmit a single polarization state while reflecting the other. Many types of Laser Polarizers are available including Wollaston Polarizers or Waveplate Retarders. Several varieties of Depolarizers are also available to convert polarized light into random light.

Edmund Optics offers a wide range of Laser Polarizers suited for many laser polarization needs. Waveplate Retarders phase-shift light beams by a specific degree rather than block certain polarization states. Waveplate Retarders are generally easy to mount components suited for a range of applications. Wollaston Polarizers consist of a pair of fused birefringent right angle prisms possessing perpendicular optical axes. As a laser is directed into the polarizer, the beam is split into two separate polarization states.
