Video Autocollimator

The Video Autocollimator combines two basic optical tools, the collimator and the telescope into a single body. Both instruments share a common objective lens, and the outgoing and return paths are combined by a beamsplitter. The autocollimator is a very sensitive angle measuring device and is often used for the precise angular adjustment of optical and mechanical components. The included software allows measuring and plotting angular displacement with sub arcsecond resolution at a frame rate of 15Hz. The high resolution camera and powerful image analysis provide angular resolution comparable to a digital laser autocollimator, with the added ability to see and evaluate the return image. This particular instrument, from Wells Research is uniquely modular, with a removable beamsplitter. As a result, it can also be operated as a conventional collimator or telescope, both valuable instruments in the optical lab.

Both kits include autocollimator body with beamsplitter, reticle section with adjustable intensity green LED, USB camera and cable, and image analysis software. #66-557 Video Autocollimator Kit with Stand includes a kinematic mounting stand with precise tip-tilt adjustment, while #66-558 Video Autocollimator Kit without Stand includes a simple clamp with a 1/4-20 mounting hole. Both kits include 3 interchangeable reticles: cross-hair with 10μm lines, 50μm pinhole, and USAF target. Each objective lens is individually measured on a Zygo interferometer and is provided with an inspection certificate.
