TECHSPEC® Light Pipe Homogenizing Rods

Light Pipe Homogenizing Rods utilize total internal reflection to turn a non-uniform light source into uniform illumination. Also known as integrating rods or light pipes, they can be used to alter the spatial distribution of the source to provide more uniformity. The hexagonal configuration in these light pipes provides 35% less light lost when filling the clear aperture, than would a comparable square configuration. These glass rods can be used to mix and homogenize single or multiple point sources regardless of their individual spectral characteristics. A variety of lengths in these light pipes allow for greater flexibility when designing a system. With high NA sources, shorter light pipes will be sufficient to homogenize the output. Low NA sources require a longer pipe to uniformly homogenize the light.

We also offer Fused Silica versions of our Light Pipe Homogenizing Rods. Mounts, specifically designed to hold our standard and Fused Silica families of Light Pipe Homogenzing Rods are available; these mounts greatly simplify the handling and integration of these components.
