Cold Ellipsoidal Reflectors

Since ellipsoidal cold reflectors can enhance light collection without dramatically increasing heat in the illumination plane, they are an ideal selection for many projection and general illumination applications. When a light source is placed at the first focal point (f1) of the reflector, the ellipsoidal reflector redirects light that would otherwise miss the target area (f2). This increased efficiency allows the user to specify lower output bulbs to obtain suitable intensity levels. The illumination gained by utilizing a greater portion of the bulb output has the added benefit of being relatively “cold” light. The reflector coating transmits approximately 75% of incident IR and reflects over 90% of visible light. Substrate is glass.
