What are tunable bandpass filters?
Tunable Bandpass Filters are thin-film interference filters that do not suffer from the typical limitation of standard thin-films whereby their spectral transmission decreases and shifts to shorter wavelengths as the angle of incidence increases.
Why are tunable bandpass filters innovative?
Tunable Bandpass Filters do what no thin-film filter has ever done before: offer wavelength tunability over a broad wavelength range simply by adjusting the angle of incidence. The patent-pending design offers essentially no change in spectral performance over the entire tuning range. They combine the desirable spectral characteristics and imaging capability of thin-film optical filters with the wavelength tuning flexibility of a diffraction grating.
In what applications are tunable bandpass filters used?
Tunable Bandpass Filters are ideal for applications ranging from fluorescence imaging and measurements to hyperspectral imaging and high-throughput spectroscopy. With their excellent polarization insensitivity and high optical quality and damage threshold, they are well-suited for a wide range of laser applications as well.
