Summary

Edmund Optics® (EO), a well-known, family-owned, operated and global enterprise with a proven track record of valuing their customers as well as their employees is searching for a full time web programmer seeking an opportunity to grow and advance from within the company.

This position is part of our dynamic Marketing team and will test your programming skills, creativity, and ability to solve complex problems in order to grow the company and maximize sales. The successful candidate will collaborate with the global web director, web programmers and technical leaders to identify solutions which can be applied to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and functionality of Edmund’s global ecommerce web site: www.edmundoptics.com. In addition to new development, the candidate will maintain, support, debug, and enhance existing web applications. Communication and teamwork are key attributes for this position as the candidate with be required to comprehend requirements, communicate progress and write/maintain software documentation.

Duties

  • Develop innovative solutions that enhance EO’s global, multilingual website.
  • Prioritize multiple web development projects in order to meet deadlines.
  • Portray a professional and positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Work collaboratively with inter-departmental staff to enhance, maintain and update internal and customer-facing web-based applications.
  • Interface with end-users to make modifications to databases, reports, screens and web pages as needed.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or comparable experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with applicable technologies including but not limited to: ColdFusion MX, SQL Server 2000/2005, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and SQL queries.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to maintain documentation.

Preferred

  • Adobe ColdFusion including experience with CFCs and custom tags a major plus.
  • Solid knowledge in relational database design and development (T-SQL).
  • Experience with JavaScript libraries (JQuery, YUI, etc).
  • Dreamweaver experience along with working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Search Engine Optimization best practices.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in technology and programming.
  • Someone with a sense of humor who likes working in a relaxed and teamwork-oriented environment.
