Summary
The Senior Buyer obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with the considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Manages responsibility for buying for specific categories of product.

• Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply.
• Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers whom orders are to be placed, and schedules delivery.
• Prepares Purchase Orders and follows up on orders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts checks against initial orders.
• Checks and approves payment invoices for orders placed.
• Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.
• Manages purchasing to reduce backorders and fill current needs.
• Forecasts purchasing amounts based on sales history and information from sales and engineering.
• Creates reports for management.
• Analyzes risk factors and makes appropriate buying decisions.
• Consults with other departments on buy decisions and future needs.
• Oversees preparation of quotes and Purchase Orders.

• 5-7 years experience in a similar role
• Min. BS degree or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Math ability or aptitude
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, in particular Microsoft Excel
